On Universal Children’s Day ECPAT UK calls on all stakeholders to uphold children’s rights

ECPAT UK is marking Universal Children’s Day (20 November) by calling on business, government, and all other stakeholders to come together to uphold children’s rights.

Universal Children’s Day was established by the United Nations in 1954 to raise awareness of children’s rights and promote child welfare around the world. The day is held annually on the anniversary of the adoption of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Refugee crisis in Europe and the rights of children

ECPAT UK and its global partners issue a statement on child protection in the context of the current refugee crisis in Europe. 

Recent crises and war in several countries, including Syria, Afghanistan and Eritrea among others, have led to tens of thousands of refugees arriving in the European Union via southern Europe and across the Mediterranean Sea. Among them are a significant number of children, some of whom are separated from their families.
