New ECPAT UK project: Local authorities supported to innovate child trafficking responses

31 March 2017

ECPAT UK sign ECPAT UK has been selected by the government to deliver an innovative project aimed at improving the local response to child trafficking and all forms of modern slavery and exploitation.

Funded by the Home Office’s Child Trafficking Protection Fund, the ground-breaking Partnership Against Child Trafficking Project (PACT) will provide a specialist consultancy service to four UK local authorities in order to improve localised responses to child trafficking.

ECPAT UK, alongside expert partners Cordis Bright  and Missing People , will focus on improving the response to children at risk of trafficking, children who have been trafficked and those who are at risk of going missing.

The PACT Project, which will run as a pilot until the end of March 2019, will work collaboratively with the four local authorities and consult with children affected by these issues.  It will enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence of professionals involved in providing services and caring for trafficked and exploited children.

Chloe Setter, Head of Advocacy, Policy & Campaigns, at ECPAT UK, said: “We are extremely excited to be heading this original and much-needed project that aims to improve multi-agency working at a local level. Together with our partners Cordis Bright and Missing People, we will deliver a service that helps local authorities raise their standards on slavery, trafficking and exploitation and, ultimately, helps to protect children from harm.”
