ECPAT UK calls for urgent review of travelling child sex offenders

On September 5th 2010, Cambodian police arrested a 50 year old British national 'ML' on charges of child abuse. 'ML' was previously arrested in April 2005, also in Cambodia, on similar crimes of child sexual abuse, but was acquitted due to two of the three victims dropping their complaint. At the time, 'ML' gained access to his victims by posing as a medical doctor in an orphanage and was reported to be working for the UK Government.

Stars across the globe raise their hands to stop child trafficking

New research out today shows one in five British adults still don’t believe that children are trafficked to the UK. In reality, hundreds of children from over 50 countries – some as young as 11 years old – are exploited in the UK every year. A petition calling for the UK Government to put the safety and wellbeing of young victims of trafficking at the heart of their plans launches today spearheaded by ECPAT UK and The Body Shop with the support of stars from around the world including Rob Lowe, Matt LeBlanc, Yoko Ono, Joanna Lumley, Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson and Sir Ben Kingsley.

ECPAT UK criticises court verdict on child sex tourism case - 18th June 2010

The case against former teacher 'PM' (63) was thrown out of Bristol Crown Court this week (15th June) by a Judge who is out of touch with international child sex tourism offences. Gloucestershire police who had been investigating the case against 'PM' for horrendous child sex crimes in India had requested extra time by the court because of delays in getting evidence from India. In a shock decision, Judge Roach refused and threw the case out.
